Damh the Bard

Damh the Bard amazes me.

I love music, and I listen to a lot of it. Especially Pagan music.
It's been a long time (if ever)since I have felt so strongly
about a particular performer.

If there were one person I could meet right now, he would be the one.
Do yourself a favor and check him out.

The Power of Circles

I want to talk a little bit about circles. In ancient times, people most often met in circles and saw their world in terms of circular or spiral movement. This is the primary reason why the wheel symbolism is predominate in the cosmology of so many cultures and teachings. In the circle, all are equal. No position can be considered better that any other position. No voice is more important or has more right to be heard. Circles are about sharing.

Contrast this to the modern world, in which meetings are most often conducted around a square or rectangular table,in which the person who is deemed to have the most right to be heard is at the head, those next in line are placed closest to this person. Those lowest down in the chain are generally placed farthest away from the head of the table.

This generally has the effect of creating what most ancient people would consider a rather unnatural pattern of interaction. Such arrangements create a rigid hierarchy which often is more about politics and B.S. than it is about any kind of common good or useful interaction. The idea of inflexible structures and the domination of every level by the one above has created a lot of the problems and divisions we are now faced with.

While I fully realize that the circle is still used in most spiritual paths, what if it were more widely used in the rest of society? What if corporations and organizations actually had their own Round Tables where equality and beneficial communication actually counted for something.

I think Arthur and Merlin were really onto something and it's something that we,as a whole, need to get back.

We really do live in magickal times

Then again, we always have.
It just seems that in the modern world we are a lot farther away from it than we used to be.

Trust me, it's all still very close to us. All we really have to do is learn to listen again. Take time to look at the beauty around you. Stop and smell the roses(sorry, gratuitous cliche moment).
Start making the journey at least as important as the destination, occasionally more so.

I am,of course, not the only one saying this. I am certainly not the first. I am just one more person adding my voice to the ever growing chorus seeking better ways for our world.

Blessed Be.
